A fire at an apartment building in Tampa has displaced 14 people.

The fire broke out just before 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Riverside Palms Apartment, located at 5005 Castile Place in east Tampa.

According to Tampa Fire Rescue, workers were doing welding work at the complex shortly before the fire broke out.

By the time firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the two-story, four-unit building. Additional crews were called in from Temple Terrace Fire Rescue.

The state Fire Marshal's Office has ruled the fire to be the result of 'operational deficiency.'
