A high-speed chase spanned three counties early Thursday and landed a teen driver in jail.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, deputies spotted three people breaking into cars in the area of Northwood Palms Road and County Line Road in Wesley Chapel at 2:35 a.m.

When deputies attempted to make contact with the suspects, three vehicles sped away, making their way south on Interstate 75 and later onto I-275.

The vehicles, described as possibly one white and one red sedan and a Toyota Camry, drove through Hillsborough County and into Pinellas County.

The Camry, driven by the 15-year-old suspect, was stopped at Fairfield Avenue and 34th Street South in St. Petersburg just after 3 a.m.

Authorities said the teen, whose name has not been released yet, is being charged as an adult.
