A 19-year-old woman was killed in a crash in St. Petersburg after being thrown from her vehicle.

According to police, Ashante Roberson was driving a yellow Nissan Xterra, with her 4-year-old nephew in the car, east on 22nd Avenue North in the left lane when a 1997 Jaguar, driven by 54-year-old Craig Marston, was pulling out of TacoSon.

Traffic in the eastbound curb lane of 22nd Avenue North was stopped and a gap was left in traffic, police said.

Marston, intending to make a left hand turn, pulled out of the parking lot, crossed the curb lane and entered the median lane where he struck the rear of the passing Xterra. This caused the Xterra to spin and roll over several times, ejecting Roberson from the vehicle.

Roberson was transported to Bayfront Heath St. Petersburg where she was pronounced dead. Police haven't said if she was wearing a seatbelt.

Roberson's nephew, Ty'Shaun Adams, was restrained and has been released from the hospital without injury.

The 2500 block of 22nd Ave N. was closed for at least two hours.
