A standoff near the corner of Armenia Avenue and Columbus Drive has ended peacefully, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Tampa Police received a call around 10:39 a.m. regarding a woman at a doctor's office at 720 W Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard. The woman reportedly had a gun, was telling everyone to get out of the office, and fired a round into the ceiling at the doctor's office.

Once police arrived, they saw the woman, identified as Kathleen Martin, 61, of Seffner, pulling out of the parking lot in a silver Lexus, heading northbound on Armenia Avenue.

After driving for about five minutes, police said Martin stopped her car at 4603 Armenia Avenue. Police attempted to talk to Martin, and said they saw her point the gun at her head and under her chin.

Martin then heads southbound on Armenia Avenue before a TPD cruiser pushes the Lexus from behind off the road into a grassy area just south of Columbus Drive.

Buildings nearby were evacuated, and another police officer arrived, boxing Martin's car in.

Police said Martin was seen again pointing the gun at her head.

During the standoff, police spoke to Martin through her cell phone and said she did not make any specific demands or provide any clear reasons why she fired the weapon inside the doctor's office or why she was threatening to harm herself.

Martin got out of her car nearly two hours later, and was apprehended.
