We’ve had showers this evening moving northward across the area in response to a warm, muggy southerly wind.

The showers will die down for a few hours overnight.

Lows will only drop a few degrees into the low to mid 70s.

Another round of showers will move in from the Gulf on Thursday as the cold front gets closer.

Highs will be a little lower due to the cloudy skies, topping out in the low to mid 80s.

Temperatures met or were near record highs, and the humidity is high for November. This will lead to a continued chance of showers overnight and throughout much of the day tomorrow.

Tampa hit 89 degrees at 2:31 p.m., which broke the record of 88 set on this date in 1988. This was the seventh record high this month.

A slow-moving cold front stretches from the western Florida Panhandle into the Gulf of Mexico. Ahead of this front, a few thunderstorms have produced tornadoes in the Florida Panhandle today. There was minor damage in Destin earlier.

With rain in the forecast for Thursday, temperatures won’t be as warm. Highs will be in the lower 80s tomorrow. Behind the front, we should dry out for Friday and Saturday, with just a slight chance of showers. However, it could still be mostly cloudy and turning a little cooler.

Another upper-level disturbance will track over us Sunday. There is great disagreement among computer models for Sunday’s forecast. Right now, we will leave it at a 30 percent chance of rain. Most models show dry conditions, yet others show rain. It all depends on the track and intensity of this upper-level energy that will cross the area quickly Sunday.

However, all models point to a significant cooling trend for more November-like weather next week. Highs could only be in the upper 60s on Monday, with high clouds and sunshine. Lows could drop well into the 40s, especially in our northern counties.

It looks like the coolest weather will be on Monday and Tuesday, followed by a warming trend into Wednesday and Thanksgiving.
