The Mike Alstott Family Foundation is making sure Pinellas County firefighters get a Thanksgiving meal, even if they’re working.

The former Tampa Bay Buccaneer and his family teamed up with Publix to deliver food to 26 fire stations on Monday.

"I don’t think everyone knows they’re away from their families on Thanksgiving working to keep us safe, and we think it’s necessary for all the hard work they do throughout the year,” Alstott said.

Mike Alstott’s wife, Nicole, and their three children helped deliver the food.

"Thanksgiving is a huge family holiday, and I feel that everyone should have a family atmosphere, even if you’re working, so this is very dear to our heart,” Nicole Alstott said.

"It’s nice that they think about us during the holidays, that we are away from our families for the most part,” Lt. Jeff Logsdon with the Treasure Island Fire Department said.

The foundation will also deliver food to the Ronald McDonald House on Thanksgiving Day.
