A Brooksville family is still thankful even though a giant tree fell on their house.

Ryan Gill still can't believe his eyes when he looks at his Brooksville home. Gill was inside the home when the tree fell, forcing him to escape through a broken window.

"I thought we were getting bombed -- it was ear-ringing loud," Gill said. "The cat is running this way and that way. It doesn't know where to go. Tried to get out and the door was jammed, so I had to run into the bedroom, bust a window out with a guitar case and climb out that way."

Gill has a 5-year-old son and a wife who is expecting their second child any day now. Thanks to the tree, he and his family have been forced to move out.

"Really couldn't get any worse," Ryan said. "She is due to have the baby on Sunday, if not before."

Officials said the tree is between 200 and 300 years old.

Gill and his family are staying with his mother for now. This isn't the first time the family has been down on their luck. They lost a house to a fire a few years ago, but Ryan is staying positive.

"You don't want it to happen ever and it is a headache, but my family is alive," he said.

A gofundme page has been set up to help the family start over.
