No one wants to feel alone during the holidays, so a local veterans group wants to make sure their brothers and sisters don't.

More than 20 veterans showed up at Veterans Alternative to hand out meals for dozens of people, including other veterans.

"I'm excited to see veterans home enjoying Thanksgiving meals back in the United States," veteran Bryan Harrison said. "That's what makes me happy."

That compassion was taken to the road.

"This is a way for me, giving back to them and saying thank you for all you've done," said veteran Jerry Sableski, as he went to drop off a meal.

One of the first homes Sableski and Harrison went to is that of Kenneth Stewart. Stewart said that kindness left him a bit speechless.

"Greatest thing in the world," he said.

Stewart served during the Vietnam War but these days, his life is a bit different. He was recently homeless and doesn’t know where he will get his next meal.

But on Wednesday, Stewart got a meal from family.

"We've both been through the same thing," he said. "We're brothers, you know."

Volunteers drove meals to 42 homes in Pasco, Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. Team Farrell in Pasco County donated enough food for 115 people for the event.
