A Plant High cheerleader who was badly injured in a hit-and-run crash will be home for Thanksgiving, although her parents are asking everyone for privacy as her recovery continues.

Jackie Faircloth was hurt in Tallahassee last November when a car hit her as she crossed the street.

Devon Dwyer was arrested in connection with the hit-and-run days later.

More than 8,000 people have followed Faircloth’s progress on Facebook. She was in a coma, then spent the last year in an Atlanta hospital recovering.

Faircloth is suffering from a traumatic brain injury. She communicates through an iPad app, and is learning how to walk again.

Her community has been rallying around her as she recovers.

“She’s home, she’s in her house, and I don’t think they can ask for a better Thanksgiving than that,” said Katie Smith, who owns KT Janes in Tampa.

Smith's store has been selling car magnets with the teen’s initials. All proceeds go toward her recovery.

Neighbors around Faircloth’s home have signs in their yards that read “Pray for Jackie.”

Faircloth’s Facebook page thanks supporters for their prayers, but cautions anyone against stopping by to say hello to Faircloth. The family says it’s a very fragile time as she continues to heal, and thanks everyone for the support.
