Forensic specialists usually stay behind the scenes.

But on Saturday, a Pinellas County forensic specialist was front and center went it came to saving a woman’s life.

Katie Scott, 23, was driving on 49th street when a car ran a red light and slammed into her.

“The light turned green and I went and the next thing I knew I just saw all gold everywhere and that’s all that I remember,” Scott said.

Scott was knocked unconscious and her Mustang continued to roll across the intersection.

“For a moment I thought I died,” Scott said.

Scott’s mother was driving right behind her.

"All I heard was the noise of him hitting her so of course I shoved my car into park, got out, thinking the car would stop and it didn’t,” Rhonda Esposita said.

Pinellas County Forensics Specialist John Huff was stopped at the same intersection. After seeing the crash, he pulled his van into the Mustang’s path to stop it.

“We are so thankful,” Esposita said. “God bless him.”

Huff’s actions not only saved Scott’s life, but also other drivers in the road. Had it kept going, the Mustang would have rolled right into oncoming traffic.

"I was really thankful and I knew the Lord had placed him in that spot and made him react quickly and I was just really thankful to him and God for keeping us safe,” Scott said.

The other driver was not injured. The crash is still under investigation.
