Clearwater Police are investigating an accident at Ruth Eckerd Hall.
Louise Virginia Schram, 81, was driving a group of Ruth Eckerd auditorium volunteers to WEDU in Tampa on Monday night, according to one of the passengers.
Officials said Schram's husband, 85-year-old George Arthur Schram of Dunedin, got out of the van to help Louise with the gears. When he was getting back into the van on the passenger's side, the vehicle accelerated, hitting him and then smashing into the building.
The man was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa as a trauma alert. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
No one else in the van was injured.
Officers said a glass panel was damaged, but there was no major structural damage to the building.
An Eddie Izzard show went on as scheduled.
The investigation into the cause of the crash continues.
