St. Petersburg's new Pier Park is looking for tenants.

But so far, the in-development venue is coming up empty.

Thursday's deadline to open an establishment at the city's new Pier Park came and went without a single entry.

Restaurateurs had from Sept. 22 until 1 p.m. Thursday to submit a bid to have a location at the new pier, which is scheduled to open in 2018.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, St. Pete's managing director of development coordination said it's still early and that he's not surprised.

Chris Ballestra said the city is testing the waters and gauging interest.

He added that no floor plan has been developed for the structure yet, which will be 7,600-square feet and on the building's third floor.

A second request for bids goes out next year.
