Deputies arrested two women who were passengers in a car they say fled from a deputy and struck a Jolley Trolley and another vehicle Friday night in Dunedin.

They're looking for the driver of the 2000 Ford Crown Victoria, who ran away when the car was abandoned at Alternate U.S. 19 and Palm Boulevard.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, a deputy spotted the Crown Victoria speeding on Causeway Boulevard and tried to pull it over. The driver sped off and, though not being pursued, struck a Nissan Murano and then the Jolley Trolley on Alt. 19.

Deputies located and arrested Sophia Hill, 24, and Kendyll Jacobs, 21, both of Holiday, near the abandoned car. The women first claimed they had been carjacked, but deputies say they determined the women were lying and knew who was driving the car.

Hill was charged with providing a false report to law enforcement and resisting arrest without violence. Jacobs was charged with being an accessory after the fact and resisting arrest without violence.

The driver of the Nissan, 40-year-old Rosa Pena of Dunedin, and two children in her vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Mease Dunedin Hospital. The driver and four passengers on the Jolly Trolly were not injured.
