A system over the southeastern Bahamas organized late Sunday to become Tropical Depression Twelve.

There is a chance for this system to intensify into a tropical storm by Monday. Once it does, it would be named Kate.

Tropical Depression Twelve is moving northwest, but models are pretty consistent in turning the system sharply to the north and northeast over the next couple of days. This will keep it well to the east of Florida.
