Here's what you need to know about tomorrow's weather:

  • Temperatures will run 10-15 degrees above normal
  • Highs will climb into lower to mid 80s
  • More record high temperatures are possible

Tampa and Lakeland both tied the records for high temperatures on Sunday, hitting 85.

And the warm, muggy conditions aren't forecast to let up tomorrow. Strong upper level high pressure and surface high pressure from the Atlantic Ocean extending west across Florida will maintain those warm and muggy conditions through Monday.

Adequate low level moisture within the deep layered southeast to southerly wind flow over the region may support more low clouds and areas of fog late Sunday night into early Monday morning.

Temperatures will remain some 10 to 15 degrees above normal with lows tonight in the mid and upper 60s in the northern counties to around  70 across Tampa Bay.

Highs on Monday will again climb into the lower to mid 80s, with more record high temperatures possible.

Deep layer high pressure over the Atlantic Ocean holds into Wednesday, then begins to weaken and shift east Thursday as a cold front slides westward along the Gulf Coast states. An initially stable, warm and generally dry air mass slowly gives way to slightly more moisture.

A few showers are possible Thursday, especially north of Tampa.

A strong upper-level trough drops into the northern Plains, pushing the cold front into northern Florida Thursday night. The cold front pushes south down the state and into far south Florida or Cuba, where it will stall out Friday night.

The front moving through will provide enough moisture and lift for scattered showers Friday. However, the bulk of the energy stays north of the area, precluding any thunderstorms.

Showers are expected to exit early Saturday morning, but with the front lingering to our south, some small chances of showers may drift back in from the south on Sunday.

Temperatures, though, behind the front drop quite a bit, with lows dropping to around normal, near 50, while the highs will run well below normal through the weekend.
