A 24-year-old man was killed Sunday afternoon when his motorcycle plummeted off the Park Boulevard Bridge, authorities said.

Justin Ennis of Pinellas Park was driving a 2009 Suzuki north on Gulf Boulevard just after 1 p.m. when he took the sweeping curve to the bridge at a high rate of speed, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Ennis lost control of the motorcycle and struck the bridge's inside barrier wall, which threw him 26 feet over the bridge to the ground below.

He was not wearing a helmet and died later at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, the FHP said.
