A Spring Hill man was killed Saturday night when a pickup truck pulled out in front of his motorcycle on U.S. 19, authorities said.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 56-year-old Ricardo Fernandez was riding a 1994 Harley Davidson north on U.S. 19 in the center lane around 10:10 p.m.

A 2004 Ford F150 driven by 20-year-old Crimson Hadsell of Hudson pulled out from Viva Via Lane on the west side of the highway to turn left onto U.S. 19.

The truck crossed directly into the path of the motorcycle, and although both drivers attempted evasive action, the front of the motorcycle struck the rear of the truck, troopers said.

Fernandez died at the scene.

Hadsell was cited for violating the right of way. Neither she nor her passenger, a 6-year-old girl, were injured.
