Polk County’s first public ATV park in Mulberry is now open.

And some of the trails at Bone Valley ATV Park are so intense you almost need a seatbelt just looking at them.

Dalton Sargent, 13, said the trails at the new park are exactly what he needs to keep him on his A-game.

“I like it because of all of the hills the sharp turns,” Sargent said.

Sargent isn’t the only one getting in on the fun. For Neil Bourcey, getting to do what he loves in an actual park is the best feeling.

“It’s the thrill of a lifetime," he said. "You go fast, you go home."

The ATV park also has mile markers with 'Stop Ahead' signs. Some of the markers even gives riders a location of where they are just in case they get into any trouble and need someone to come and find them.

And with 200 acres of land to ride on, those extra precautions are key.

Polk County Parks and Recreation Superintendent Derek Harpe said the eight-year planning process for the park and the detail that went into it is what makes it so unique.

"All the riding is basically under canopy,” Harpe said. “The trails are constructed out of old mine property and we have extensive tree growth around here and riding under shade in the summer and early spring and late fall is good.”

Bone Valley also has lots of amenities.

The family friendly ATV park offers training, picnic areas and trails for dirt bikes, four wheelers and motorcycles.  It’s a pretty epic park for riders like Sargent who said he never wants to leave.

Fees for Polk residents are $15 a day for adults and annual passes are available for $250 a year. For more information visit the park's website.

The park is located at 10427 County Road 630 W, just south of Mulberry and west of Fort Meade.
