A Hernando County business is a hot spot when it comes to hiring veterans.

When Rural King Supply opened in Spring Hill, it was a big hit with locals. It's also a big hit with veterans when it comes to landing a job.

Tim Linstad spent some time in the U.S. Army. Now he has found a home working at Rural King's gun counter. He said making the switch from the military life back to the civilian life isn't easy, though. The people at Rural King know that, and so they hire as many veterans as they can.

"To be able to have (a) place where you can go, and you are almost assured a job to reintegrate back into normal society," Linstad said. "It's an awesome thing."

Around 30 percent of the employees at the Spring Hill store have a military background. There are a lot of stores around the country, and all of them share the same philosophy when it comes to hiring veterans.

"Their applications are put right on the top," said Katie Murphy, who is a store manager. "We really tend to look for veterans."

Murphy said hiring veterans is a no-brainer.

"(They're) responsible, they're on time," she said. "They are serious about their jobs. They know what they're talking about. They have great customer service skills."

Linstad added: "It's not often when you see that concentration of veterans in one location."

It's a patriotic hiring policy that's helping a lot of veterans all over the United States.

Rural King Supply is a farm and feed store, but it has a lot more than that. And it also offers a place for veterans to find work.
