A line of showers and thunderstorms swept across the Bay area early Thursday morning.

The showers were heavy at times and ushered in wind gusts that reached more than 40 mph in some areas. A 44-mph gust was recorded in Belleair while a 41-mph gusts took place in Tampa.

According to Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez, chances of scattered showers remain this morning but the breezy conditions will remain as the cold front moves through the area.

"Temperatures will remain in the 60s throughout the day," Marquez said. "The wind is out of the northwest. It will not be as foggy today but windy and cooler."

It will be mostly cloudy and cooler tonight with lows in the 50s.

There is a slight chance of showers Friday and a chance of scattered showers on Saturday.

A warming trend is expected this weekend with high temperatures in the low 70s on Saturday and the upper 70s on Sunday.
