A massive fire destroyed a Largo home Friday morning.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 900 block of 15th Avenue SW in Largo.  After about 45 minutes, the firefighters had the fire under control.

The residents got out of the house safely, but the family cat was killed in the fire.

Several small explosions were heard coming from the house during the fire. Homeowner Allan Eichman said there are a number of items in his backyard shed that could have caused those explosions.

"I have a number of camping propane tanks and fireworks back there, along with a rifle and ammo," he said.

Firefighters say it appears the fire broke out on a back wall of the home. They are still investigating the cause of the fire.
