Family and friends held a celebration of life this morinng for Apryl Foster, the Brandon woman who died after apparently driving her car into a small lake Feb. 13.

Foster, 33, was last seen leaving a karaoke bar in Ybor City early the morning of Feb. 12. Tampa police had searched for her for more than a week when boaters discovered her Chevrolet Aveo and body in Mango Lake. Foster was found inside.

The service was held on the green behind Ulele restaurant, 1810 N Highland Ave. in Tampa Heights. Foster was a server and a trainer at the popular restaurant.

Greeters handed out beads and told of Foster's fun and quirky personality. They played videos of Foster singing, which was one of her favorite activities.

"I just thank the entire world that embraced our daughter, just a little small-town girl who had a smile that didn't stop," Foster's mother, Peggy Beman, told those who came.

White doves were released at the end of the service.

Authorities believe Foster's death was an accident. Surveillance video indicates Foster drove through an open metal gate leading to the lake, turned right and slid down a boat ramp into the water.

Mango Lake is a little more than a half-mile from where Foster lived on Brandon Trace Avenue.  The drive from Ybor City to Foster's  home was about 20 minutes.

"Once she made that turn, it was like she was just going down a dark road," friend Jessica Swafford told reporters Monday. "It's very obvious to us that she just got turned around."

Friends said Foster only had one drink at the Double Decker karaoke bar, which was the second establishment she visited that night after work. She was known for being responsible and reliable.

Investigators are awaiting the results of toxicology tests.
