After heavy overnight rain soaked the Bay area, another round of showers is moving east across the region this morning.

According to Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez, the smaller, second round of showers will be followed by windy, cooler weather.

Wind gusts up to 36 mph were recorded early this morning at MacDill AFB and 34 mph in Belleair.

The overnight showers dropped as much as one to two inches of rain in some areas. Slightly more than two inches were recorded at Roy Haines Park in Tampa while 1.96 inches fell in Temple Terrace. Just over two inches fell in Seminole while 1.72 inches were recorded in Land O'Lakes and 1.44 inches fell in Polk City.

"The first batch of rain moved through the area and then to the east and south," Marquez said. "As we go through the day today, dry, cooler air will move in and we will feel it in the area by tonight."

Temperatures will remain in the 60s throughout the day before dropping into the 40s tonight.

Conditions will be drier with plenty of sunshine this weekend.
