You’ve heard of random acts of kindness? An organization in Dunedin encourages Random Acts of Flowers.

Everyday Hero Pam Ora is the executive director who says nothing goes to waste.

“Our mission is to recycle and repurpose flowers that came to us from weddings, memorial services, special events, black-tie galas, luncheons,” Ora said. “Anywhere the flowers have been previously used”.

Workers transform the flowers into fresh bouquets, and they are taken to patients in hospitals, assisted living facilities and hospice.

The Dunedin branch of the organization has only been around since November 2013. But this past January, they made their 10,000th floral delivery to the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center in St. Petersburg.

Ora started this branch of Random Acts of Flowers, which has three other branches in other states, with Monica Kok, director of Mission Fulfillment. Volunteers fill out the staff to make the floral bouquets.

“We’re totally funded by people in the community, by companies, by individuals, by grants and fundraising that we do,” Pam said.
