At just 4 months old, Klo'e Morad already had a smile that could light up any room. Now, it's a smile that can only be seen in pictures after the young girl's life was cut short.

Klo'e died Friday while she was in the care of a caregiver, 58-year-old Vivien Grey, who was also a longtime family friend of Klo'e's parents, deputies said.

"We feel hurt and sick," said Tailya Wesley, the mother of Klo'e.

Klo'e was left in Grey's care Friday. Grey told investigators she only checked on the girl twice in about a six-hour span. She never picked the child up, fed her or changed her diaper.

When Grey went to check on Klo'e a third time, she realized the baby wasn't breathing. In an interview with investigators, Grey admitted to smoking crack cocaine Thursday night and "may have smoked" while caring for the baby.

"We have known her for years," Wesley said. "She was a good mother and was our nanny."

Wesley said she thinks Grey should do time for not taking better care of the baby, but she doesn't think the woman did any intentional harm.

"I don't think she murdered my baby or anything like that," Wesley said.

The Rev. Mike Major, of the Victory Christian Fellowship Church, supported the girl's parents Sunday.

"They are really broken (and) really upset," Major said. "And, you know, their thoughts are probably everywhere because it is a tragedy."

Randelle Niski, a neighbor, said she can't believe a tragedy like this would happen where she lives.

"I feel it's tragic and very, very said," Niski said. "This is a very wonderful community in which we live. It's very safe. And that something like that would happen is just beyond words."

Grey, of Holiday, was arrested and charged Saturday with one count of felony child neglect. Results of an autopsy to determine the baby's cause of death are pending.

Grey has a long criminal history with drug possession, prostitution and other felony charges.
