Deputies pulled a woman from a burning house in Holiday early Monday, possibly saving her from serious injury.

Crews responded to the home on the 3600 block of Bradford Drive around 2:20 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a fire and people trapped inside, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.

Video of the incident was captured from the body camera of Deputy James Collins. He and the other Pasco County deputies arrived as the first responders and a woman was screaming for help inside the smoke-filled home.

You see Collins go through the front door crawling on the ground but the smoke was too thick. Collins then breaks windows to try to rescue her as the other deputies smash windows too they find her and pull her out of a window to safety. We spoke to two of the deputies who told us they were just doing their jobs.

"I would expect that anyone else would do that for a family member of mine so I mean we don't look like it was a big deal or anything like that I guess,” said Cpl. Robert Mulkey.

"I was just trying to find her,” said Collins. “I mean, afterwards I can tell you then I started thinking about chaotic it may have been to go in to a house full of smoke but like I said at that point I was just trying to get her out."

The woman they rescued is 51-year-old Sharon Sickles. Her 88-year-old mother was able to get out on her own. Neither needed medical attention.

Collins was treated for smoke inhalation but is already back to work tonight.
