A 2-year-old girl has died after she fell out of a moving van and was subsequently run over.

The accident occurred on Wallace Road and S.R. 60.

According to Hillsborough County deputies, the great-grandmother of the Izbella Bronson was driving her 2008 Kia Sedona on a private dirt driveway of her residence.

Deputies said Alice Barber had just picked up Izbella's 9 and 7 year old brothers who had just got off a school bus at the end of the driveway at S.R. 60.

Deputies said Izbella and her 9-year-old brother were seated on the floor of the van with the van door open while Barber drove slowly back to the house. The 7 year old elected not to ride in the van but run ahead to the house.

Just prior to making it to the house, deputies said Izbella fell out of the open van door and was run over by a rear tire of the van.

"Unfortunately, this time on the way back, she obviously hit something that knocked the child out and underneath the rear wheels,” said HCSO spokesperson Larry McKinnon.

Izsbella was flown to Tampa General Hospital where she died shortly after she arrived.

There are no charges at this time pending further investigation, police said.

"It's on private property so the car seat and all those rules don't apply unfortunately,” said McKinnon.

Deputies say it appears to be an accident but they say it's also a cautionary tale.

"These are potential risks that you take when you put a child that is not secured in a car seat regardless of where it's at,” said McKinnon. "So it's a lesson learned, a tragic lesson learned, but hopefully it's a message we can send out to everyone. That this is what happens when you practice these habits."
