A woman was killed and two other people were seriously injured in a wrong-way crash in Seffner on Saturday night, authorities said.

Linda Yancey, 70, of Seffner was driving a Chevrolet van north on Kingsway Road just before 6 p.m. when she struck a mailbox south of Cactus Road, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said in a release Monday.

She then crossed into the southbound lane and the path of a Chevrolet truck driven by Donald Gaswint, 54, of Brandon, deputies said. Gaswint swerved left, but the right front of Yancey's van struck the right rear of the truck.

The van continued north in the southbound lane, where it collided head-on with a Volkswagen driven by Charla Pfeffinger, 71, of Peking, Ill., deputies said.

Yancey was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital, where she died shortly after her arrival.

Pfeffinger and her passenger, Lyle Pfeffinger, 76, were taken to Tampa General Hospital. Charla Pfeffinger was listed in critical condition and Lyle Pfeffinger was in serious condition, deputies said.

Gaswint drove himself to Brandon Regional Hospital and had non-life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, deputies said.
