Polk County Sheriff's detectives are investigating the death of a man whose remains were found near Loughman Community Park.

A worker found the remains while mowing the park property at about 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Detectives said they appear to have been there for five or six months.

A forensics examination determined that the remains are likely those of a Caucasian man who is approximately 50 years old or older, officials said. The Medical Examiner did not find any signs of obvious trauma.

The remains will now be sent to the University of Florida for further examination and study.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about a missing person from Orange, Osceola or Lake counties to call 863-298-6200.
