Tampa voters chose Guido Maniscalco Tuesday to fill a vacant city council seat.

But it was a narrow victory for the 30-year-old West Tampa jeweler, who bested civil engineer Jackie Toledo by an unofficial 200-plus votes.

With a little more than 7,300 votes being counted, Maniscalco garnered 3,731 votes to Toledo's 3,580. That is a 51.03 percent to 48.97 percent victory.

The results still need to be certified.

The runoff election was necessary after none of the three candidates got a majority of the vote during March 3's general election. Tommy Castellano was eliminated in the general election.

District 6 covers West Tampa, Seminole Heights and parts of South Tampa.

Maniscalco will be sworn in April 1 to a four-year term that pays $42,000 a year.
