Physicians and employees from Florida Hospital North in Tarpon Springs are going to India for two weeks to help provide medical care and deliver supplies.

The two physicians and twelve employees will split into two teams, a medical team and children’s team during their two week stay.

“We plan on helping the people of Delhi and surrounding villages with clinical screenings and vaccinations," said Dr. Vinod Raxwal, Florida Hospital North Pinellas Cardiologist. "While we are there we will also be offering acute medical and prevention education on typhoid, malaria, cholera and hepatitis. We believe giving back to our local community and beyond fulfills our mission not only at Florida Hospital but as physicians."

The hospital children’s team will be bringing supplies to schools including crayons, coloring books, toothbrushes and toothpaste. They will spend quality time with the kids at each of the village schools teaching them health and wellness activities.

"At Florida Hospital North Pinellas, we serve our local community and beyond because it’s the right thing to do," said Bruce Bergherm, President and CEO of Florida Hospital North Pinellas. "Mission trips are just one example of going above and beyond to help those in need. Employees tell me the biggest reward is seeing the joy on the faces of the people they are helping.

"We are lucky to have employees that care not only for patients here at our hospital but around the world."
