Storms are expected to come in from the Gulf of Mexico throughout the night, bringing showers and the potential for strong winds.

Earlier in the evening, the storms brought with them winds of up to 40 mph, according to Bay News 9 Meteorologist Diane Kacmarik. Those storms slightly weakened as they moved across land.

In Pinellas County, more than 3,900 Duke Energy customers are without power as a result of the storms. Officials said they estimate the power will be fully restored by 11:30 p.m.

The storms quieted down but Kacmarik said more stormy weather is set to come onshore early Friday morning.

Kacmiark said yet another round of showers and storms are expected to come through in the day time, and that it will be windy throughout the day.

The cold front will then come through later Friday, bringing in cooler air. That cold front will move south of our area Friday night with drier and much cooler weather for the weekend.
