The cat rescued earlier this week from the Intracoastal Waterway has been reuinted with her owner.

The 3-year-old domestic shorthair tabby, whose name is Rags, was found in the water Wednesday afternoon.

Police officers recruited a nearby roofing contractor to help them pull the cat from the water.

Officials said they think Rags had been in the water for about 14 hours by the time she was rescued.

Rags was taken to the Animal Hospital of Treasure Island, where it turned out she had been a previous patient.

The hospital staff contacted her owner, Wendy Russ, and helped reunite Rags with her cat-mom.
