A motorcycle run this weekend in Polk County will honor a teen who recently died.

Terry "TJ" Jerome Murphy Jr. died in August from a form of bone cancer. He was 16.

A motorcycle run on Saturday will honor the teen, and raise funds for the TJ Murphy Foundation.

Murphy Jr.'s father, Terry Jerome Murphy Sr., a retired Lakeland police officer said the money raised will go towards the "Take Flight Scholarship."

The younger Murphy was a student at the Central Florida Aerospace Academy.

Other donations will benefit the Children's Dream Fund of Pinellas. The group helps children with life-threatening diseases live out their dreams

According to the Ledger, registration for the run will be at Lakeland Harley-Davidson, 4202 Lakeland Hills Blvd. on Saturday from 7 to 9 a.m. and costs $10 per bike, $15 with a passenger.

The run will go from Lakeland through Davenport, Haines City, Lake Wales, Frostproof, Winter Haven and end in Lakeland at Mojo's, 1853 E. Memorial Blvd. about 1:30 p.m. A celebration featuring live music will be held at Mojo's from 2 to 6 p.m.
