Friday is the last day for residents to vote on their favorite St. Petersburg pier designs and the city is hoping more people take part.

The survey closes at 11:59 p.m. Friday. Residents can either take it online or in person at the Mayor’s Action Center at City Hall on Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

There are seven design concepts to choose from. All of them meet the Pier Committee’s required criteria, and now they want input from residents.

The survey is non-binding, but Mayor Rick Kriseman says that should not discourage residents from completing it, because the results are significant in the process of selecting a revamped pier.

"That information will be given to the selection committee," Kriseman said. "Who, by state law, has to look at all factors in making a decision on which design they’re going to recommend to city council."

The committee will release the results of the survey on March 9.

Then, over the next few weeks, they’ll review all of the data collected on the each of the seven designs.

The committee will go over each design's strengths and weaknesses, along with permit ability and economic impact before selecting their final top three choices to present to the city council later this month.
