A quiet neighborhood full of retirement age residents turned into a bustling Hollywood film set this week in Hillsborough County.

Tim Burton and his team filmed parts of his new movie, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

"It's been busy, lots of traffic around. Not at all like it usually is around here," said John Sheppard.

Sheppard, who lives in the neighborhood, says he was approached by the film crew to place lights on his lawn. They offered him money even though he said he'd do it for free.

Neighbors say fog machines create a spooky scene on the streets when filming takes place. The scenes are based around one house in particular.

"They used that location because of the cypress trees," said Elly Wright, a neighbor.

Crews added a little movie magic though to achieve the right look. Fake trees were erected outside of the home, along with phony street lights and other props.

"It's kind of a spooky movie. I guess Tim Burton is a really different producer," said Wright.

Not everyone is star-struck though. Like Herb Silbert, who cut his grass as movie trailers filled the street in front of him.

"It's no big deal. There's other stuff going on. I've got to cut the grass over here, you know? The grass keeps growing while they film you know," said Silbert.

According to IMDb, the movie is based on the best-selling novel of the same name and will star Eva Green and Samuel L. Jackson.

The movie received an incentive package to film in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. It is set for release in 2016.
