More than 200 homes north of Crystal River could soon have improved tap water.

Citrus County voted to spend more than $2 million to extend its water system beyond North Turkey Oak Drive.

The state will offset some of the cost, and homeowners would pay yearly assessments.

The move comes after unsafe levels of arsenic were found in the area's private wells.
