The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office has located a caregiver for a child found alone Wednesday morning in St. Petersburg.

Deputies said the boy, about 3 years old, was found alone 10:35 a.m. today in the area of 71st Street North near 46th Avenue North in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

A few hours later, deputies tracked down the home where the boy was being watched by his grandma.

Deputies say the grandma told them the boy wandered off while she was sleeping.

A resident said deputies knocked on her door while trying to locate the boy's home.

"This is what the police officer said, (the boy) left the house today to go get milk with his shoes on the wrong feet and just dirty and a mess,” said resident Linda Taylor.

Deputies said he refers to himself as either "Colin" or "Collins."

Authorities were not able to locate any parents or caregivers when the boy was found.

The boy, who was found wearing a red, white and blue striped shirt and red shorts, is safe and unharmed.

Deputies interviewed the grandma and no charges are expected to be filed.
