A woman has been arrested for animal cruelty after deputies say she left a dog alone to die in a foreclosed house.

According to the affidavit, Tabitha Ann Spadola, 35, left her family’s 1-year-old pit bull alone in the Holiday home without electricity, food, or water.

“The defendant owned, had custody and control of the animal and failed to act, which resulted in the cruel death, excessive and repeated infliction of unnecessary pain and suffering,” said the report.

Deputies said Spadola told her children and family the animal was taken to a no kill shelter to prevent the family from returning to the home, that is now in foreclosure.
