The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in New Port Richey.
According to deputies, the shooting happened Thursday at 1:19 a.m. at 12018 Ember Avenue, which is in the Moon Lake community.
Officials said the man who lives in the home, 55-year-old Michael Farrell, shot an intruder multiple times after the man had broken into the home. The man who was shot, identified by authorities as 35-year-old Chris Wehunt, was taken to an area hospital in unknown condition. Officials said he is expected to survive.
Authorities said Farrell told them he shot Wehunt after the man broke into the home and attacked him.
Farrell was questioned and no charges are expected.
The shooting is under investigation.
