A landmark in Ybor City is celebrating a milestone birthday.

La Segunda Central Bakery, at 2512 N. 15th street, is a century old this year. On April 23, the bakery will celebrate 100 years with a big birthday party.

To put it in perspective, Woodrow Wilson was president and the price of bread was about 7 cents a loaf when Juan More started the family business in 1915.

The More family has come a long way since then.

Now Juan's grandson and great grandson lead the massive 24-hour operation that bakes 15,000 loaves of Cuban bread each day. The bread is then shipped to businesses all over the country.

"I never thought I'd be here, never," said Anthony More, Juan's grandson.

Even their employees can't believe it.

"It's one heck of an accomplishment," said Master Baker Anthony Ali. "It's not too many businesses around our area that could say that.

Tampa's Mayor and several other public officials are expected to attend and speak at the celebration.
