A man in his late 50s was hospitalized early Thursday with severe burns after a Pasco County travel trailer fire.

According to Pasco County Fire Rescue, firefighters responded to a travel trailer fire at the Sawmill Village in Lacoochee.

The fire broke out just after 2 a.m. at the travel park, located at 21710 US Highway 98.

"It was engulfed in flames,” said neighbor Michal Wiggins.

A neighbor’s cell phone camera caught flames as they burned through the small trailer.

"I heard somebody walking up and down the street screaming fire," said Michael Wiggins.

Wiggins, who lives across the street, is close friends with the owner.

"I got sheets to put around him because he was burned bad, severely bad," said Wiggins.

Authorities said the man suffered burns to more than 50 percent of his body.

The fire was put out after a short period of time and there were no other injuries. Officials have not released any further information on the fire, which is under investigation.
