A Pasco County deputy won't face any discipline or charges for shooting a dog last week.

Sheriff Chris Nocco said the deputy's body camera shows he did the right thing but the owner is crushed and wants an apology.

With his body camera rolling, the deputy jumped over a Dade City fence to check out an intrusion call.

When he got close to the house two rottweilers ran at him. One of the dogs got too close so he shot it. Carla Gloger is the dog’s owner.

"To walk outside and to see because he was like right here and it's just very hard,” Gloger said.

Gloger said her dog Cowboy was a puppy and wasn't going to attack but Nocco doesn't agree. He said the footage from the body cam proves it showing his deputy did the right thing.

"It was a sad day but at the same time he was professional in everything he had done,” Nocco said.

Nocco said they got a call and somebody could have been in trouble. He says a "beware of dog" sign at a front gate isn't going to keep his deputies from doing their job.

"And I ask anybody to put yourself in his shoes, put yourself in his boots out there,” Nocco said.

This case is getting a lot of attention and Nocco says his department is getting death threats. He said the video is clear and he stands by his deputy.

"You threaten one of our deputies, you threaten one of our citizens we are coming after you,” Nocco said.

Gloger said it didn't have to end like this. She said a part of her family is gone and can't be replaced.

"I'd like an apology letter. I would have liked someone to call me and say how are you doing? You need counselling? You need anything?"

Nocco said his deputy is upset about what happened but the body camera did its job.

Nocco said since 2011 they have received 36 calls to the same house. Gloger said she plans to file complaint and open an investigation.
