The Hernando County Courthouse was evacuated Thursday due to a bomb threat.

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office said they were notified by Tampa law enforcement about the bomb threat Thursday afternoon. They said two different news stations received the threat, then notified authorities.

The threat indicated that a bomb may go off at 2 p.m. at the courthouse.

Law enforcement officers were sent to the Hernando County Courthouse to help evacuate everyone in the building. Firefighters were also dispatched to be on standby.

Officials said that after 2 p.m. passed, law enforcement officers swept the building and the grounds several times, but were unable to find explosive devices or suspicious packages.

Everyone was allowed to re-enter the courthouse.

The case remains under investigation.
