Two more people have been charged in connection with the death of a Manatee County toddler, including the boy's mother.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, 32-year-old Dianna Marr, and boyfriend, 25-year-old Trevor Cardarelle, are now facing charges in the death of Alexander Marr, 4.

Deputies responded to 708 59th Ave. Terrace W in Bradenton on April 12 after receiving a call about an unresponsive child.

The child, identified as Alexander, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies say an autopsy found Alexander suffered injuries consistent with child abuse on his fourth birthday.

The arrest report says the boy was found face down in a bedroom with what appeared to be dried blood on his mouth and nose and on the wall. The report describes fatal traumatic brain injuries, a lacerated liver, torn esophagus, and internal bleeding. It details multiple injuries on the 4-year-old's face, back, chest, and stomach caused by blunt impact.

The state argued that Alexander was lying on the floor cold and stiff and had been dead for hours while Marr Cardarelle were just sitting in bed.

Diana Marr was arrested Thursday and charged with aggravated manslaughter. Her bond is set at $15,000. Marr opted against supervised release with an ankle monitor.

Cardarelle, who was already behind bars on a violation of probation charge, was charged with manslaughter and sexual battery on another child under of the age of 13. His bond was set at $350,000.

The boy's grandmother, Karla Kay Gray, 52, is facing charges of failure to report child abuse in connection with the death of her grandson.
