Tampa police say they caught a robbery suspect as he sat in his truck counting money.

Police say Noble Rogers, 51, walked into a Family Dollar in 50th Street at 3:16 p.m. Thursday and confronted store employees. He threatened to shoot the employees and demanded money, police said. He implied that he had a weapon but police said no weapon was seen.

The employees complied, and Rogers took money from the register and fled in a green GMC truck.

Witnesses gave a detailed description of the suspect and his truck, and plainclothes police officers began looking for him. They spotted the suspect vehicle pulled over in the 3100 block of E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and the man inside matched the suspect description, police said.

Officers said that as they approached the truck, they saw Rogers inside counting money.

Witnesses identified Rogers as the suspect in the robbery. He was arrested and taken to Orient Road Jail without further incident. He is facing robbery charges.
