A crash involving four vehicles closed the eastbound lanes of I-4 in Plant City for a time Saturday morning, although, remarkably, there were no major injuries.

Just after 8 a.m., a Florida Highway Patrol traffic homicide investigator was parked on the inside shoulder of eastbound I-4 just west of State Road 39 taking measurements from a previous crash.

The driver of a Cadillac slowed when noticing the trooper's emergency lights, but a tractor trailer that was following the Cadillac in the center lane didn't slow and rammed the Cadillac from behind, the FHP said.

The impact drove the Cadillac into the rear of a pickup truck, causing it to overturn as the Cadillac traveled off the road and struck a barrier wall.

Lastly, a Chevrolet van traveling in the inside lane was struck by debris from the initial collision.

The driver of the Cadillac, 55-year-old Richard Granison of Tampa, was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of the pickup, Lorenzo Perez, 58, of Tampa also suffered minor injuries.

Troopers cited the driver of the tractor-trailer, 24-year-old Michael Shultz of Spring Hill, for careless driving.
