A Port Richey woman was killed Friday night when a motorcycle she was a passenger on was hit from behind by a pickup truck pulling a trailer, authorities said.

Ashley June Harris, 28, was on a 2012 Harley Davidson that was stopped at a red light on U.S. 41 at E. Orange Avenue around 5 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol said. The driver of the pickup, 23-year-old John Seibert Jr. of Citrus Springs, initially didn't see the motorcycle and veered left to try to avoid a collision.

But the truck did hit the back of the motorcycle, throwing both Harris and the motorcycle's driver, Travis Golisano, 39, of Port Richey, troopers said.

Harris died at the scene. Golisano suffered minor injuries, while Seibert was not injured.

Seibert was cited by the FHP with careless driving.
