The final days of April could get very wet around the Tampa Bay area.

A system moving in from the west will "invigorate" the jet stream and spawn several rounds of heavy showers and thunderstorms early in the work week. The rain will jump to 60 percent Monday and 80 percent on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

“On Monday, showers and storms will develop. Storms are likely to be more numerous by evening. Skies will be mostly cloudy to cloudy. Winds will be lighter than Sunday,” said Bay News 9 meteorologist Diane Kacmarik

Because of winds, high dew points and clouds,  Sunday morning lows in many spots were record high minimums.

Tampa low Sunday  79 (Old record 76)
Lakeland  72 (Old record 70)
Winter Haven  76 (Old record 71)
Sarasota-Bradenton  79 (Old record 74)
Brooksville  76 (Old record 76)
St. Petersburg  80 (Old record 76)

A round of showers and storms will move through starting mainly later on Monday all the way through Wednesday.

“An area of low pressure will move across northern Florida causing very gusty winds on Wednesday along with possible strong storms. A cold front will move through Wednesday night allowing cooler air to move in for Thursday,” Kacmarik said.

There's a reward of more comfortable weather coming at the end of the week, though. The afternoon highs Thursday and Friday will only be in the 70s.
