There will be no bond reduction for a suspected drunk driver accused of hitting and killing downtown St. Pete chef Aaron Davis, 31.

Jason Lanard Mitchell, 25, of St. Petersburg, will continue to be held on no bond, a judge ruled Monday.

On April 11, police say Mitchell was speeding on when he blew through a red light on 2nd Street North and Central Avenue, hitting Davis, who was leaving work. Another man was also hit but survived.

Mitchell, arrested a short time later, has been charged with DUI manslaughter, aggravated fleeing and eluding, leaving the scene of a crash involving death and DUI with serious bodily injury.

Davis was a chef at The Kitchen, a restaurant just west of 2nd Street on 1st Avenue N. Davis’ wife gave birth to their second child, a boy, a few days after his death.
